Matches are not currently picked out by language-analysing algorithms but simply by users swiping through profiles peppered with Twitter information. Mr Smith told Mail Online: 'The next step for us is an exciting new area in dating of matching algorithms based on language analysis.'We're already developing a new feature, planned for release by the end of 2017, where we show a 'compatibility score' between two users based on their language used, both at the pre-match stage (i.e.when you view another Twitter-connected user) and the post-match stage (when you're chatting to another user).'The frequency of certain words in tweets, such as pronouns, can reveal a person's emotional, social and thinking style.'The thinking goes that tweets, which tend to be spontaneous and opinionated, rather than polished Instagram posts to project your 'best self,' offer insight into people's personalities and could help single people looking for love avoid incompatibilities.Mr Smith said: 'Other dating apps have hooked up with Instagram, giving users the option to display even more pictures on profiles. The results gave a psychological snapshot from analysing our most recent tweets with chat-up advice for the future.
The company has also worked with Receptiviti on a 'Twitter Personality Test' that reveals insights into a user's personality from their tweets and even offers dating tips, such as: 'Get to the point quickly and don't waste their time.
If users get a match, it's up to them to decide whether to meet in real life and there's an in-app 'venue discovery tool' to help them pick a romantic location.
To safeguard privacy, the app does not display its users' Twitter handles or full names, post anything to Twitter on their behalf or alter their existing Twitter privacy settings.
